The challenge

Hilti jobsite reference trevi fountain Rome Italy

During the restoration of the Trevi Fountain in Rome, one of the columns in the façade was found to be unsafe, with a crack around its base. This may have also been contributing to cracks in the fountain’s friezes.

We were asked to advise on what to do.

OUR HILTI SOLUTION

So, we decided to use our Hilti TE-30 drill, drilling holes 25 mm in diameter. Then we used Hilti M20 1.30 m steel rods anchored by HIT-RE 500 chemical adhesive. We injected excess adhesive to compensate for any voids inside the base.

The restoration was completed in 2015 with the fountain restored to its former glory.
